Special Needs Kitties

Cat Angel Network has many wonderful cats that are considered “special needs” because they have physical limitations, have tested positive for FIV or FeLV, or are simply very shy and need extra patience and love. These cats need a special human who will look beyond these issues to see the remarkable kitties inside, and give these cats the home they deserve. Are you that special someone?

Update - Fall 2006

This year, kitten season brought us several Special Needs mommy cats with litters of newborn kittens. We were able to find volunteers to take these sweet mothers and their babies into foster homes, and here's the latest on our special needs babies:

  • One FIV+ mother cat with 5 FIV+ kittens (Isis & kittens)

All the kittens tested positive for FIV... and we were able to find homes for all five! The mommy cat (Isis) is still searching for her forever home.

  • One FeLV+ mother cat with 4 kittens (Meggie Moonbeam & kittens)

When the kittens were about 2 weeks old, Meggie got very sick and was unable to care for them. The kittens were bottle raised, and all four tested negative for FeLV! The kittens have all been adopted. Meggie recovered from her illness, and is now happy & healthy and lives in a Cat Angels foster home.

  • One FeLV+ mother cat with 5 newborn kittens (Chynna & kittens)

All five kittens tested positive for FeLV, and are currently living in a Cat Angels foster home with their mother. They will be retested after 3 months' time. To see pictures of these very special babies, click the button below.

Some of our older special kitties include:

Danny H.   Grant

This big handsome jet black fellow was a stray who was being fed by a cat lover. She has other cats so she couldn't keep him. She asked the vet if they could help to find him a home since Danny H. is a "special needs" kitty. Dr. Perkins called Cat Angel Network about him and we assured him that he would find a home of his own. Danny likes other non-aggressive cats and kittens, but not bossy cats since he is easily intimidated. If you can open your heart and your home and help us keep our promise to this precious boy, please complete our Adoption Application which you'll find right on our website. For more information about his "special needs", call 610-327-3969. He's been neutered and fully vaccinated.

Hello, my name is Grant! My foster mom says I look like the feline version of a muscular little football player. It’s true that I’ve got the physique of a halfback, with my large head and upper body, and small, tapered waist, but I’ve got to admit that the only pileups I enjoy are the ones with my buddies when we cuddle in a big pile for a snoring fest! You see, in spite of my “tough guy” exterior, I’m really a “softie.” I never liked the rough life of a junkyard cat that I had to endure for my first few years of life. In fact, when some cat rescuers came and tried to catch me and the rest of the group in humane traps, the other guys ran, but I jumped into the rescuer’s car! After neutering and shots, I thought I was headed for the good life, but then my blood test came up positive for FIV. I swore I never touched anything but regulation stuff from the garbage cans, but the doc told me it wasn’t a drug test, but one to see how strong my immune system was. I protested that I felt plenty strong, and the vet assured me that I WAS a big, bruiser of a guy right now and would probably be for many years to come, but in my later years I might have a little harder time fighting off ailments than other kitties. What a relief that news was! For a guy like me with a “Eat, drink (water) and be merry” attitude, no three letter label like FIV is gonna interfere with one single minute of working out with my cat toys, running sprints up the cat tree, or basking in the sunshine to keep up my brown-tabby tan! All I need now to make life perfect is a fan club (family) of my own, hopefully with a recliner, big-screen TV, and a remote tuned to football or, actually, anything at all. It really won’t matter, because I’ll be snoozing alongside my new best buddy!  For more information about Grant, call Elaine at 610-327-3969.

Genevieve was adopted!   Danny R.

Genevieve is a sweet and petite little tortie girl. She is super affectionate and loving (rolls over on her back, rubs against you, and purrs constantly). Although Genevieve tested positive for Feline Leukemia, she is in tip top shape, spayed, FIV negative, and fully vaccinated. She gets along great with other kitties and would love to find a special home with another Feline Leukemia kitty. For more information about our Sweet Genevieve, call Elaine at 610-327-3969.

If Danny R. could place a personal ad, it would say the following: Handsome, affectionate black and white kitty seeks attentive and loving family for a long-lasting relationship. Interests include feasting on Science Diet CD, napping in the sunshine and receiving large amounts of praise and adoration. In return, I am willing to supply companionship, use the litter box and meow when hungry. I come neutered and vaccinated. I am a special needs kitty; to learn more about my special need please call my friend, Elaine at 610-327-3969. (Danny R is about 3 - 4 years old.)
